My name is Carmen.
A few years ago, I was looking for a way to invest my money—something that could generate some return instead of leaving it idle in the bank. I didn’t have much capital, nor any financial background. Just a small amount of savings I had managed to put aside through work.
How did I end up investing in P2P lending?
Like many, I had heard time and again that money loses value over time, and that investing is necessary to preserve its worth.
Around me, cryptocurrency was becoming the new craze. Friends—and friends of friends—seemed to be making quick profits trading crypto.
In 2018, I had to write an article about cryptocurrencies and bitcoin. After days of research, I considered putting my small savings to work by buying bitcoin. But even after all that research, I still didn’t know where to begin—what cryptocurrency to buy, how the whole process worked, or how to evaluate which one was worth investing in. It all felt too risky and too complex.
Realizing I’d need to spend many more hours understanding it—and knowing there was a high chance of losing money—I gave up on crypto. My savings stayed in my piggy bank.
Then, by one of life’s little twists (or maybe not so coincidental, as a friend of mine would say), things changed. In 2019, while traveling in East Africa, I met a quiet German who mentioned P2P lending investments. That same evening, I googled “how to invest in P2P lending.” The next day, I managed to get a bit more information out of the quiet German — Lars Wrobbel. In less than ten minutes, he explained four key things (literally) about how crowdlending works. I visited a couple of P2P platforms, and that night, I made my first investment.
It was the simple solution I’d been looking for—not as “safe” as a piggy bank, maybe, but my money would be working for me.
What do I do for a living?
No, I didn’t study anything related to finance. Even though I was good at math, I’ve always been “more of a words person.” I earned a degree in Psychology, and after several years working in Human Resources (at a financial company, actually), I decided to become a freelancer and take a new direction in my career. I worked as an executive coach and today I work primarily as a content writer.
I’ve been living and working online from different countries since 2015, and I’ve been traveling full time since 2017. I like variety and being multidisciplinary—doing the same thing every day bores me, especially at work. That’s why, although most of my time is now dedicated to copywriting and content creation for clients, I still occasionally take on projects in HR and coaching.
In addition to this blog, another big part of my personal and professional life is writing. I’ve published several books: 33 Tips for working remotely , 33 Practical tips for Public Speaking …
Why did I create the blog?
Back in 2019, when I started exploring P2P lending, I noticed that there was very little information available in Spanish. Most resources were in English, and many websites were tailored to the U.S. market—which is very different from what we have in Europe.
That’s why I decided to start the blog invertirenprestamosp2p.com: to share my experience and what I’ve learned investing in crowdlending. My goal is to provide clear, accessible information that anyone can understand. I want to break down the fine print and make financial terminology less intimidating.
Then came the YouTube channel
Not long after launching the blog, I started a YouTube channel in Spanish, where I explain everything from platform reviews and tutorials to my personal portfolio updates. It’s a place for visual learners and a growing community of fellow investors.
Now in English: Blog and YouTube Channel
As time went by, I noticed more and more interest from outside the Spanish-speaking world. So I’ve launched this new version of the blog and YouTube channel in English to share what I’ve learned with a wider audience.
